Mónica has been painting for as long as she can remember. Although her original dream was to become an actress—she majored in theatre in Mexico City—her artistic journey shifted when she moved to Tijuana, Baja California, She enrolled in visual arts classes at Casa de la Cultura, where her formal artistic education began.
Since then, she has exhibited and sold her art on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. In 2004, after moving to Arizona, she joined the printmaking team at Xico Inc., becoming an active member of the Arizona art community. In 2018, she had her first solo show as part of her residency at Xico Inc. After the pandemic, she opened her studio and began teaching art, sharing her passion and knowledge with a new generation of artists.
Monica is the owner and founder of Mestiza Creative Space, an educational place that promotes artistic expression, cultural identity, and bilingual exchange—connecting people through the transformative power of art.
